Digital Book Readers
58If you don't know already, digital book readers, also known as ebook readers are the latest rage. Some even say they are the biggest thing to happen to the written word since the invention of the printing press. Why the big hype? It's because what they offer the consumer is a never ending source of reading material in the form of ebooks, available anywhere at any time.
How do digital book readers work?
They all have one basic function. To allow users to download ebooks to their device on the go. A users online bookstore account is synced to their device allowing for seamless browsing of digital books. Once a book is selected, the user's account is automatically billed and the ebook is downloaded to the user's device. It's stored in the device's library and the user can then begin reading. All of the digital book reading devices out today are designed to have screens that mimic the apperence of paper so that readers don't get fatigued trying to read text from conventional electronic screen. The screens are also designed, along with the rest of the device, to save energy and insure a long battery life with some devices being able to last up to 2 weeks on a single charge.
Why you should buy one
If you are huge reader you owe it to yourself. What you're getting by purchasing a digital book reader is an uninterrupted supply of reading material delivered to where ever you are. Whether thats on your couch or in a commuter train in the middle of downtown, you will be able to access hundreds of thousands of classics, best sellers and new releases.
If you are a person who travels a lot for business an Ebook reader can be a godsend. A close family member of mine is an avid reader. She also spends a lot of time over seas traveling for her job. Sometimes she spends a couple months in a row away from home. One of the main things she always hated was that she either had to lug tons of books with her on her travels or else she had to search high and low for English books in the country she was visiting. If she did find english books they were often priced very high and there was never a very diverse selection. Once digital book readers came about she was one of the first to jump on the band wagon. She loves it. Even when she is back at home she finds that her rate of book consumption has skyrocketed. And she loves toting around the slim, lightweight device rather than a couple big heavy books.

Hi,
I live in NY, LI and I waitress for a living. In the past six months I have seen a huge explosion of digital book readers. At lunch time people who come in to eat alone and after ordering they whip out the digital reader.
